How does this work?

1. Select a calendar
  1. Browse the calendar list.
  2. Select the calendar(s) you want. You may select as many as you like.

2. Modify settings, if needed
  1. Most calendars have customizable settings.
  2. You do not have to change anything. The default settings work fine.
  3. Location-specific calendars (Sun, Weather, Solunar) need to know where you are. WebCal will geolocate you reasonably accurately, but you may want to specify your exact location.

3. Accept the subscription
  1. Click on the Subscribe button.
  2. Your calendar application opens and prompts you for confirmation. The image on the right is from a Mac, but the process is very similar on other platforms.
  3. You do not have to touch anything. Just make sure automatic updates are enabled. It is automatically enabled for all systems except Mac OS X Snow Leopard and earlier.
  4. If you wish, you may want to change the color or name of the calendar.

4. Done!
  1. You're done. Your calendar appears in your application.
  2. You may click on the events to see the details. Each event includes a web address with more information about the event.

5. Time passes...
  1. What happens to old events as time passes? How do you get new ones?
  2. With automatic updates old items are removed and new ones added automagically. Your calendar will be always up-to-date without any effort from you.

6. Calendar updated!
  1. After a week your calendar application will download new content. New events appear old ones disappear.
  2. You may want to see the current status of a calendar. Go to January 1st of any year and you'll see an event with your subscription details.
